Q. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, you get the feeling that the phone is going to ring... and it does? Or you know who it is that is calling... and you are right? A song is playing in your head; you turn on the radio, and there it is... the same song? You are overwhelmed, somehow, with the feeling that a close friend or relative is in trouble or needs your help at that moment... and you soon learn that is actually the case?
Are these examples of mere coincidence? Or is there something more profound taking place? Are we, in fact, tapping in to what many researchers believe is a shared consciousness - or superconsciousness - that connects all people... perhaps all living things? These are no longer just "New Age" concepts, but are subjects of serious speculation and research by a growing number of mainstream scientists in the fields of quantum theory, psychology and other disciplines. The idea that psychic abilities and related psi abilities are quite real (if difficult to measure) phenomena is gaining respectability.
There are many different types of psychic abilities and you have to discover your ability before you can tap into it. For instance, there is clairvoyance (experiencing visions), clairaudience (experiencing sounds, such as voices), clairsentience (experiencing feelings) and, of course, intuition (experiencing a gut feeling) which are all very common abilities in psychics. While there are other abilities, these are the most common. Although most people have or will have at least one psychic experience in their life, it usually takes a life changing event for a person to tap into their true potential as a psychic. However, it's entirely possible to strengthen your psychic abilities in other ways should you want to.
One very popular way psychics use to develop their skills is to meditate. Meditation helps rid your mind of the excess noise and focus on the underlying energy. One of the most common forms of meditation used by practicing psychics is yoga. Psychics also practice using tools that compliment their abilities. If you're psychic abilities are visionary, use images. If your abilities are sensory, then observe others using all five of your senses. The more you practice and work at it, the easier it will be to access your psychic side. You should also make an effort to increase your awareness to your surroundings. Psychics are sensitive to their surroundings and one way to develop this is to take a few minutes every day with your eyes closed and try to notice as many smells, sounds, shapes and textures as possible.
Because we care: we would like to issue some words of caution
If you are planning a trip for a psychic reading or some kind of spiritual experience, be prepared before you go. We list these cautions in the "Psychic Research" section of our website, for the protection of folks' best interest. There are a growing number of "Psychic Boiler Rooms" everywhere, some are out to rip you off by stating the obvious or trying to sell you a peace of "The Brooklyn Bridge". If there is any lesson to be learned from this, it's the fact that you can't sell spirit and expect to get away with it. There is one thing we all have in common, we all love to hear about ourselves in some respect. Most of the readers and even carnies know this and will take full advantage of it.
We've researched a few of them by first guaging the"ego"to make sure they are not just full of themselves. Then we ask a series of questions about thier lives and concernes in efforts to see what's on the "backburner" of the mind. Remember, if they do not know themselves, how could they possibly know you? The ultimate test of course would be to invite them on an investigation and compare notes from the historian and/or case manager. It's healthy to maintain at least a little bit of scepticism, this will also hohn your skills as a researcher and/or investigator.
These cautions concern so called "credentials" or labels for a person who states that they are in this line of work to help and inspire people. First, trust your "gut" or first impression (odds are you are probably right), there are no gods or angels of taxes or anything to do with money. Any donations or fees given should be done from the heart, for the person giving you the reading or impression. We have yet to converse with any entity that asks for money other than a live human being. There are plenty of impersonators or actors out there who are out for money or some other form of recognition who give the psychic community a bad name. Besides, how could anyone give you a quality reading with finances or concerns about what you may or may not think of them in the back of there mind? Also, if you become a part of a psychic community that argues over clients or some kind of "virtual territory" odds are they do not have yours or their clients best interests at heart. Be mindful of so called "churches" or "academies" who promise to empower you, think of human history and let that be your guide.
