As paranormal investigators and researchers, we do spend a great deal of time not catching any evidence. We go over many hours of media looking for anomalies, evp's and the "Holy Grail" of paranormal research and investigation, the full body apparition. The first things a good investigator will ask the individuals, who have interests in the field, is if they are willing to screen tons of media without blinking (a little humor). It's a very good gauge and test of our own passion for research and investigations. Our passion comes from some encounters of our own with paranormal activity and our persistence of getting real answers both for you and ourselves. As investigators, we believe that it's only through the elimination of fear that we can gain a true understanding of the paranormal, and we will at no time put ourselves or anyone else in any danger.
You could equate Paranormal Investigations with fishing in the aspect of needing to have a real passion for it. However, having said this, we have to remember that ghosts probably used to be real people with real passions as well. Spirits will not always appear on cue, this is why it takes not only passion but compassion. We also have to be extra careful not to insult a person’s intelligence either. We know that in life, for example, we wouldn't want to hang around a graveyard all the time. As investigators, we're not too sure that will change much when our time comes. In contrast, the thought of spending the rest of eternity sitting on a cloud, playing a harp, doesn't quite appeal to us either.
Another thing is maintaining a healthy attitude with healthy skepticism. This helps us as investigators to maintain credibility, validity and hones our skills. Many seemingly paranormal occurences will have perfectly normal explanations to them. We have to be alert at all times, and we have to go over all evidence we catch with a fine toothed comb. We can not expect anyone to trust us if we put faked or previously debunked evidence in the media claiming it to be genuine.
We also have to ask ourselves some questions: "who would we approach in life?" and "is this person really worth talking to?" also, "will this person help us?” It stands to reason that many of us may be asking the same questions when we get to the other side. At no time can we think about or treat the living as if they've lost their intelligence, will, feelings or compassion. As investigators, we believe the same also goes for our ancestors and dearly departed. We would hope that we do not suddenly become unknowing or something to fear in death; It sure would make eternity kind of unfriendly, wouldn’t you think?
While we tend to departmentalize knowledge as good, bad or indifferent, we will gain wisdom from everything we experience, and we should always keep this in mind. As investigators, we tell folks that if it's fear and excitement they are looking for; they should wait until Halloween when the fun houses open or visit the local carnival. It's one thing to see and catch evidence, which is very exciting. It's quite another thing to prove it, which is one thing we all can identify with in our frustrations with the media and each other. There is really no need to "sugar coat" it, the truth tends to stand on its own. The keeping of strict protocol is also important in this endeavor as it also helps us in the debunking or validation process while reviewing evidence along with credibility.
Welcome to our Paranormal Investigations Department, we wanted to introduce you to the world of spirits, ghosts and entities. Most of us would define them as being all the same thing when indeed they are not, though any of them can manifest as what's known as an apparition. Ghosts are people (sometimes animals) who have unresolved issues or who are having trouble "letting go" just as in life, people become attached to things, places or others. Keep in mind that when someone dies they do not suddenly become unknowing or something to fear. Spirits are those that have moved on that sometimes visit us, keep in mind that spirits may also choose to become guides or experience more lifetimes. They do so to gain in knowledge and wisdom, which becomes innate during lifetimes until tapped into. After all, you didn't think that we sit around on clouds and play harps for eternity did you?. Entities such as "angels" and other various descriptions may be part of an "infinite collective" you've probably heard that it takes a village to raise a child, think of the village it takes to raise the child known as humanity. We invite you to talk more about entities, spirits and ghosts in our forums. We feel that in order to do a proper investigation, it's best to know more about what you are investigating. *More info is listed in our Tips & Tools section
